Hey all! Sooo. I feel like the only time I blog anymore is when I have a completed project to share. Let's be honest. That IS the only time I seem to blog these days. I don't scrap nearly as much as I used too, so I usually have four guaranteed projects a month to share, with the projects I do monthly for Bella Blvd and Kerri Bradford.
Yet, there are always lots of other projects that I'm working on here and there. A lot of them are ones that I share bits and pieces of on Instagram, if you were to follow me there. They may not be actual layouts or cards. But there are lots of scrap related projects that I've been doing. Since I don't have any new projects to share this week, I thought I would take some time to share some of the random projects I've been working on this year.
First up, unfinished albums. I'm the queen of unfinished projects, and I have plenty of unfinished albums that have been begging for my attention. I think I shared these on Instagram back in February. These four albums above are the main ones that I was hoping to get around to working on.
Left: This first album is a 6x8" Simple Stories album that I started well over two years ago. I wanted to put together an album with all of the band photos Alyssa had captured over her four years of high school. I've blogged a bit about this album, and how I was going about putting it together (blog posts HERE and HERE). I was on such a roll with the photo printing part of this album, which was the biggest part, since it's going to be very photo heavy. I was actually on track to have it done before Alyssa graduated. Well, then life happened. And she graduated. And it's now been two years and I haven't finished it. I really, really want to get this one done.
Right: This second album is also a 6x8" Simple Stories album. I think I started this one about 9-10 months ago. I had this idea to make an album that held all of the photos from my scrapping travels. This would be trips I've taken to attend CHA, and to teach at CKC's and CKU's. I might even include two other trips. My trip to Utah years ago, after winning a trip from Creating Keepsakes Magazine for their Golden Ticket contest, and my trip down south several years ago to film an infomercial for Making Memories. I had all of my photos printed, and they're all in the album, along with my tradeshow and teaching badges. And then I never went back to it. I need to go back to it.
Left: Next up, another 6x8" Simple Stories album. A little over a year ago, I started on an All About Me album that I had been wanting to do for a while. I actually have quite a lot of full layouts in my albums, that share little glimpses into pieces of me. But I wanted to create a smaller album that would give a good look at me, at a specific time in my life. Things change from year to year, and I wanted to capture myself in one moment, so to speak. I created two spreads for this album, and they can be seen HERE. I did actually start two more spreads, but never got around to finishing them. Or doing anything else in this album. Something else I need to get back too.
Right: This is one album project that I can say I actually finished. This is an 8.5x11" American Crafts album, documenting my own school years. I had collected school photos, class photos, report cards, awards, certificates, etc over the years, and had kept them pretty organized and in one spot. Earlier this year, I got super motivated and decided this was one album that I wanted to focus on. I shouldn't say it's fully finished, because I still have a few things left to do. You can read more about the album, and what I have left to do, right HERE.
Left: My girl's school albums. These are on-going album projects, that it seems I'm always working on. Heck, Alyssa graduated two years ago, and I still find things that I need to add into her albums. Sarah is going into her senior year of high school this year, which means I need to get everything from 11th grade added into her album. I have shared lots about these school albums, and the system I have set up, over the years. You can find all of the posts HERE - just ignore the first two posts that show up, since those were about my own school album that I mentioned earlier.
Right: This is actually something new that I've been working on. Well, not totally new. I've had sports albums for each of the girls set up for years. But they're very basic. For the most part, they hold their soccer photos (and some softball mixed in), team photos, and newspaper clippings. A few years have some pocket pages filled with photos. And if I've created any actual layouts, they're in there as well. I've always had intentions of creating full coverage albums. Adding in all of the photos that are just sitting on my external hard drive, doing a little something more creative with the newspaper clippings than just slipping them in a page protector, and just making it more organized and complete overall. Well, I have recently started on this project, and have been sorting thru photos and getting tons of them ready to order. Right now, I have everything in 12x12" albums. But I recently picked up a few 9x12" albums from an awesome sale at Studio Calico, and I think they'll be perfect for this project.
thanks Laura! This sounds like my life pretty much--assignments and projects going on--GREAT ideas on storage, I like the idea of 9 x 12 album for sports stuff...I'll have to think about it. Trying to figure out an album to hold my daughter's track bibs and stuff (not medals..) Sometimes I feel like I have too many irons in the fire which makes it looks like a total mess around my table! ;)
