Ummm. How is it March 1st already? Goodness. I'm pretty sure it was still January approximately 4 days ago ;) A new month means it's time for me to put in my next photo order. Which means I'll have my February photos all printed out and in my mailbox by the beginning of next week, and can then start on my February spread. I'm really hoping to stay on track with this project, so I'm feeling very in-the-zone with it right now.
So today, I'm sharing week two for my 2017 album. I think this was a week where I hardly had any photos. I think I've mentioned before that at the end of each month, I ask the girls to send me any photos they have. It's a great way to work pieces of their life into our album, seeing as how I don't get many photos of them myself these days. Whatever they sent me for the month must not have included anything for week two, since these are all my photos. And quite honestly, I've been slacking a bit on even taking pics.
Again, I started the spread by slipping in my week card, and my calendar card, and then adding in my photos. My next step is to type up some journaling cards, and then work on any additional filler cards. I mentioned in my last post that I was aiming to have just two filler cards per week, but this week does have three. I guess two or three is a good number.
I'm pretty sure I meant to add a little label sticker to one of these two photos, so that I could write something about the photos. Guess that slipped my mind. These two daycare kiddos are my early birds, and I snapped these photos on the one morning that they both happen to fall asleep shortly after arriving. They're usually crazy loud and full of energy every other morning.
I use the colors in my photos to pick out my additional filler cards. Some weeks have a lot going on, color wise, with the photos. And some week's photos just end up working well together, totally by chance. I ended up adding in filler cards with aqua, red, and black, so when it came to adding any embellishments to the cards for the week, I stuck to those colors.
Like on this journaling card, from Cathy Z, that I typed up. I left some room below the "it's just so you", before I started my actual journaling, knowing that I wanted to add something in that space. I very randomly came across a super old sheet of aqua paint splatter rub-ons, and added one to the card. Just a little splash of color!
The three filler cards that I added are all from Simple Stories. I don't limit myself to one manufacturer or one collection when picking out cards, but when you happen to find them from the same manufacturer or collection, it's always a time saver.
This journaling card actually said "current reading on the nightstand". I opened it in Photoshop, where I add all of my journaling, and deleted the "nightstand" part. I then added text to read "sidetable", since my basket of magazines sits on the sidetable by the sectional in the family room. I know that's sort of a weird list. But my point was that I let my magazines pile up, so that I have multiple issues of each magazine to catch up on at any given time.
A huge majority of the photos I include in my Project Life album come straight from my Instagram. So it's always easy to grab whatever I said on Instagram, when I shared the photo, and copy and paste it (and sometimes tweak it) onto a journaling card. On this card here, I added a "always keeping it real" sticker and few aqua enamel dots to add in another touch of aqua to the spread.
I'm hoping to be back next week to share the second half of my January spreads. And I also have a random, school album related post to share later this week. If you want to know how I worked my girl's larger art projects into their school albums, check back here on Friday for that info ;)
